- Nigun (יגון; pl. nigunim, ניגוןים) is a Hebrew term meaning “humming tune.” Sometimes, Bible verses or quotes from other classical Jewish texts are sung repetitively in the form of a nigun. There are also nigunim for individual meditation, called devekut (connecting with God) nigunim. These are usually much slower than around-the-table nigunim, and are almost always sung without lyrics.

- Kaddish (קדיש Aramaic: "holy") refers to an important and central prayer in the Jewish liturgy. The central theme of the Kaddish is the magnification and sanctification of God's name. One form of the Kaddish is the Kaddish d'Rabbanan (קדיש דרבנן), literally "Kaddish of the Rabbis." It is the tradition that whenever 10 Jews or more study Torah together that they recited the Kaddish d'Rabbanan at the completion of their study session. It is our practice to end our Mussar sessions by reciting the Kaddish d'Rabbanan together.
